PCCW Global’s IP expertise empowers China’s booming manufacturing industry

Enterprises migrate traditional infrastructure to IP networks for flexible bandwidth allocation

HONG KONG, May 8, 2007 - PCCW subsidiary PCCW Global said today it was focused on addressing market demand among enterprises wanting advanced IP solutions, especially in China’s booming manufacturing industry, as companies migrate their traditional infrastructure to IP networks.

PCCW Global Chief Executive Officer Dan Lovatt said: “Enterprises value flexible bandwidth allocation to support operational and business applications. Our IP-VPN services are addressing this demand, as more enterprises expand their regional network in Asia, particularly in China.”

“Companies are demanding a scalable platform with quick upgrade flexibility, which offers better cost efficiency and accommodates ad-hoc business requirements. PCCW Global does this on a flexible, reliable and secure network,” Mr. Lovatt said.

Intimate apparel manufacturer Top Form uses the PCCW Global IP-based solution. Chairman W.Y. Fung said: “We are enjoying enhanced regional production management, with timely updates on critical mass and key production status in production plants in China, Thailand and the Philippines. The new IP network gives us peace of mind, allowing us to focus more sharply on our core business. PCCW Global also helps manage the network for us.”

Hong Kong-based TAL APPAREL specializes in the manufacture of quality garments for the world's leading apparel brands. Managing Director Dr. Harry Lee said: “With PCCW Global's latest IP-VPN (MPLS) technology and managed services, we are able to empower our internal production management throughout regional offices and factories via an ERP application.”

PCCW Global migrated TAL from traditional frame relay to an IP-enabled network with value-added services. This latest IP technology ensures a reliable and secure network to support critical applications that improve production performance and sustain TAL’s world-leading position in the production of innovative clothing.

Designed to evaluate operators serving multinational corporations with pan-regional networks in Asia Pacific, the Gartner Magic Quadrant 2006 report assessed PCCW Global based on its ability to execute and completeness of vision among other players in the same category.

Dan Lovatt said: “It is very encouraging to be recognized as a strong player, offering consistently high service quality, competitive pricing and good service and support in China. We are confident of seeing significant growth for PCCW Global’s IP business this year.”
