We are ready for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games!
The grand opening of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games takes place at 8pm on August 8, 2008 - auspicious numbers in Chinese tradition. PCCW will serve the Equestrian Beijing 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong with fixed telecoms services and has partnered with China Netcom Corporation (CNC) - exclusive fixed-line telecoms service provider to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games - to connect your operations in Beijing with the rest of the world. Satellite is normally used for the distribution of content, but optical-fiber networks will be playing a key role this time to deliver high-definition TV (HDTV) programming to satisfy bandwidth requirements from 50 Mbps to 2 Gbps. Working with CNC, PCCW is offering broadcasters and other media end-to-end connectivity from Beijing's International Broadcast Centre and Media Press Centre all the way to their home countries. PCCW has established a protected SDH network with CNC, as well as satellite teleports in Beijing and East & West Coast in the United States. This one-stop solution also includes a video equipment bundle that supports SDTV and HDTV, with PCCW Global providing 24/7 support services onsite in Beijing.
Major rights-holding broadcasters (RHBs) with private room inside the IBC, it will need telecoms infrastructure to transmit edited video signals to their home countries. Medias will be located mainly in the Beijing MPC, where crews will need data communications, like IPLC or IEPL connections between the MPC and their home countries.

Real-time video playout services will be made available to media with ad hoc and temporary needs for RHBs and non-RHBs. CNC could help to provide private space and other services. The Playout Centre will be built outside the controlled Beijing 2008 Olympic Games area, enabling us to offer services to all media and broadcasters, RHBs and non-RHBs.
