Console Connect expands on-demand direct connections to IBM Cloud

HONG KONG, July 7, 2020Console Connect today announced an expanded collaboration with IBM Cloud Direct Link, the network service designed to secure and accelerate data transfer between private infrastructure and the IBM public cloud, to provide secure, reliable and low latency network connections to the IBM public cloud from data centers across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Console Connect is a Software-Defined Interconnection® (SDI®) platform that delivers fast, low-latency and secure connectivity worldwide over PCCW Global’s network, offering an uncontended, redundant core network with multiple diverse paths between countries. With IBM Cloud Direct Link services, customers on the platform can now instantly provision virtual connections directly into IBM’s public cloud for short durations from any of the Console Connect-enabled data centers in 40 countries.

Large enterprises are increasingly adopting a hybrid cloud approach and seeking to drive efficiencies by integrating their existing private and on premise workloads with the public cloud. Efficient deployment of applications across multiple cloud environments requires the ability to transfer and process data with reliability, security and speed.

With on-demand private connectivity to the IBM public cloud, Console Connect and IBM customers can now benefit from a seamless, end-to-end experience for their critical IBM Cloud services such as compute and storage infrastructure as well as IBM’s extensive catalogue spanning AI, blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT).

The Console Connect platform allows customers to self-provision connections to the IBM Cloud from data centers around the world. Console Connect has implemented direct cloud on-ramps to the IBM public cloud in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, Frankfurt and San Jose and all on-ramps can be accessed directly from 300 plus on-net data centers in over 40 countries via the Console Connect uncontended private network.

Mr. Michael Glynn, Vice President, Digital Automated Innovation, Console Connect, said, “We are delighted to extend our collaboration with IBM Cloud Direct Link to deliver on-demand, private connectivity to IBM Cloud via direct on-ramps across Asia, Europe and the USA. Extending our on-ramp footprint means more global businesses are now able to take advantage of the improved speed, security and network scalability for their critical business applications hosted in IBM public cloud.”

Mr. Gabriel Montanti, Global Offering Executive, IBM Cloud Direct Link, said, “As enterprises pursue innovation to capture the emerging opportunities of today’s increasingly digital world, and seek improved continuity in the face of external challenges, they are looking for best in class options to leverage the public cloud. With IBM Cloud Direct Link services, Console Connect customers will now have access to IBM public cloud for mission critical workloads with the improved security and lower latency they need.”
