Senior Engineer II, Transmission Engineering

The engineer shall possess knowledge, skills and work experience in Subsea Cable systems, Optical Transmission Network and Ethernet technologies and solutions for global service needs.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Support, maintain and lead the implementation of cable projects, and provide technical and operational supports to cable system operations & maintenance, restoration and effective control of cable station operations.
• Provide technical and operational supports to Optical Transmission network and Ethernet network and its services globally.
• Support, attend and implement Transmission network activities including but not limited to normal and ad-hoc restoration and normalization works, liaise and coordinate with Co-location Suppliers; Local Loop Suppliers and Cable Landing Station in relation to the regular and/or ad-hoc network activities.
• Provide technical and service support to the Network Operations Centres or Global Service Operations Centre when required.
• Manage and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to maintain quality performance and effective operational costs.
• Produce engineering, planning and operations document when required.
• Provide technical, service and operational support including Emergency Call-Out (ECO) when required.

Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, IP/Information Technology, or related disciplines
• Work experience with Global Carrier, Data Centre / Telecom Operators / Sizeable network operators / Vendors etc.
• Knowledge and work experience in subsea Cable systems, Transmission and Ethernet network and services including SLTE, OTN, DWDM, SDH/SONET, Ethernet Technologies and protocols
• Hands-on experience in using Testers and cabling works
• Team player with initiative, eager to learn and deliver, and good communication skills
• May be required to work at irregular hours when needed
• Possession of a valid driving license is definitely an advantage
