Customer Engineer (Transmission)

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To resolve colocation customer issues by providing on-site technical “remote assistance services” on an ad hoc basis;
  • Carry out effective & quality customer service provision on all International transmission services, including SONET, SDH, IPLC, IEPL base on Huawei, ZTE and Nortel product;
  • Manage and coordinate with Project Manager the implementing of customized TX Solution Project in configuration and other technical aspect to our customers.
  • As part of the service delivery chain, in coordinate and work with the core engineering team to provision non-standard services and implement network wide upgrades, changes, etc.;
  • Resolve customer issues by providing technical support mainly remotely, on an ad hoc basis on-site;
  • Provide 2nd level support to the NOCs for such services and be an escalation point for such issues;
  • Work with the core engineering team to resolve higher level problems and implement solutions per request;
  • Operation/interpretation of transmission test equipment/results; and testing of transmission links;
  • Provide support within a global team to ensure proper handover of tasks/activities to ensure 24 x 7 support to PCCW Global client base (external/internal);
  • Fault diagnostics on transmission interface media types, operation of test equipment and interpretation of test results;
  • Installation of equipment (racking/stacking);
  • Ad hoc activities as assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Electronic/Information System/Computer Engineering with 5 years’ experience transmission experience;
  • In depth knowledge of carrier transmission technologies (SDH/TDM/GigE);
  • Preferably transmission related experience with ADMs i.e. ECI, Huawei, ZTE or Nortel etc.;
  • Understanding of transmission interfaces, transmission media types;
  • Experience in telecommunications service provider markets and support processes;
  • Thorough understanding of Operational (service management) processes.
  • Customer-oriented, self-motivated and tactful in dealing with other people across different functions
  • Good communication (especially telephonic), presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Act as a team player and self-starter
  • Well versed in spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua
