IT Systems Specialist
Roles and Responsibilities:
PCCW Global is looking for an IT Systems Specialist to be based in London, UK.
- Perform system administration and provide secondary end user support;
- Perform & analyze network & servers workload/performance monitoring;
- Perform testing on testing environment;
- Diagnose & document hardware & software problems (building a knowledge base);
- Use problem-solving skills to fix immediate hardware/software problems as well as to define long-term problem solutions;
- Responsible for applications testing, trouble shooting and resolution;
- Assist the IT Team/IT Manager to implement corporate IT projects;
- Application and user account/profile administration;
- Prepare relevant documentation and production changes;
- Configure monitoring tools on any new project implemented;
- Improve security on/out the IT network;
- Constant hardware/software inventory update and maintain local system configuration;
- Perform pro-active actions on all services and identify possible blocking points & bottlenecks;
- Develop and implement the database backup and recovery procedures for various application systems;
- Support and ensure Common System Software is operating in a stable, effective and efficient environment;
- Implement projects to meet requirements and standards in a timely and professional manner;
- Research and produce written analysis for new hardware/software purchases for best price, best fit for application, best vendor, etc. for all agencies and departments that use Information Technology services. Assist with vendor negotiations if requested by other department;
- Provide skill transfers to other team members;
- In conjunction with Systems manager, deliver technical support and day-to-day services to meet with end users’ requirements and business critical systems uptime;
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned;
- Onsite engineer in charge of the London POP for IT datacenter (network, storage, servers, backups).
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science or related discipline;
- Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN technology;
- Good knowledge in SAN infrastructure, mostly DellEMC VNX;
- Good knowledge in backup systems & backup software (Rubrik knowledge is a plus);
- A minimum of 3 years solid experience in Cisco Networking;
- Knowledge of bash shell scripting and/or PowerShell;
- Strong knowledge on Linux/Unix OS (Centos/RedHat) & Windows 2008/2016 server;
- Good knowledge in open source solutions (Open LDAP, Postfix, KVM, ...);
- Able to provide technical solutions and alternatives from high level requirements;
- Able to complete task at a timely manner;
- Strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills;
- Proven ability to keep track of multiple tasks and projects at once;
- Strong written and verbal communication in English (Chinese is a plus);
- Independent, mature, initiative and is able to produce high quality deliverables under tight schedule;
- Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure and to work in continually changing environments.
