VoLTE is a critical next step to deliver the best voice experience to 4G subscribers. It offers HD quality voice, with an end-to-end IP network and QoS. This is significant in that it limits the transcoding, which can affect call quality and enable the new services.
The PCCW Global VoLTE service allows operators to interconnect and terminate HD/4G voice calls anywhere in the world by using our world-class IPX network.
Our MNO partners can offer a single end-user experience when calling from their smartphone and reduce network interworking issues between 4G and non-4G service providers. PCCW Global seamlessly transits, routes (codec route and/or number dip), transcodes and terminates.
In the event of a VoLTE to non-VoLTE call, codec routing is about detecting the codec used for the call and smartly directing the VoLTE call to the closest quality to limit the impact on the subscriber’s experience.
Number dipping allows PCCW Global to route a VoLTE to the right carrier in countries where mobile number portability applies.
PCCW Global owns one of the largest IPX in 140 countries and in more than 3,000 cities.
Through our extensive coverage worldwide, including Africa where we are the largest VoIPX provider we provide the most comprehensive true global coverage.
PCCW Global is an active members of the GSMA Forum and I3 Forum helping to shape the future of IPX. We are committed to expanding our extensive on-net IPX coverage and launching innovative new products and applications over our global IPX platform to help service providers get a competitive edge.
