Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF)
At times of humanitarian crisis, we provide emergency telecommunications to help aid organizations and the victims they serve. In fact, PCCW Global assists Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) in this regard as a corporate partner. We are proud to work with TSF and will continue to help aiding people displaced by war or disaster.
For more than 10 years, TSF has played a crucial role in supporting rescue efforts by deploying telecoms centres to relieve war or other disaster-hit locations.
TSF makes the difference between life and death in often dangerous conditions by establishing emergency communications at high speed. The organisation also helps unite displaced families by sponsoring free calls to anywhere in the world, so civilians affected are able to reach loved ones.
As an organisation, we are proud of our role as corporate partner to TSF and will continue providing the support it needs when aiding people displaced by war and disaster.

Donation to orphanage/day-care refuge in South Africa
Our Johannesburg office donated computers and Internet access to the Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre, an orphanage and day-care refuge for abandoned and abused children in South Africa’s Alexandra.
The computers have since become a major part of learning activities and are used for online research, as well as development of IT skills. In fact, staff at the Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre says PCCW Global’s donation has made a positive difference to the way children there have been able to study.
Sichuan Earthquake Relief
PCCW Global came to the fore in May 2008, when an earthquake struck Sichuan in China, killing more than 68,000. Severe telecoms congestion hampered relief efforts, so we equipped China Red Cross with satellite phones to assist rescue teams. An MPLS connection was also provided so medical personnel in Sichuan could get real-time advice from Hong Kong-based specialists via high-definition video-conferencing.

Empowering our employees
For us, helping our people to fulfil their potential is vital to what we do. It’s why we provide personal development opportunities that involve travel, job rotation and exposure to international business activities. As an equal opportunities employer, we respect and celebrate a diversity of cultures in an international workplace, as well as among our geographically dispersed office locations and customer base.
We have earned a reputation for developing a global team spirit by engaging our colleagues physically or via the latest technologies and sharing information in a way that highlights our approach to cross-cultural awareness, communications and teamwork.
From a business perspective, we insist on ethical conduct and observe strict corporate governance to ensure all operations are performed with integrity and transparency.
In addition, we’re committed to best environmental practice and adopt sustainable policies and processes designed to reduce harmful impact. A prime example of the company’s contribution to preserving the planet is a high-definition video-conferencing service that provides a “like being in the same room” experience, thereby negating the need to travel any means of transport for business meetings.
